PVP Spec Finally Coming Around
I’ve been using my new 11/41/9 PVP spec for about a week now, and things are finally starting to gel. As with anything, it just takes practice to get a feel for the limits of the new build, and the timing of new shots (specifically Scatter Shot and Silencing Shot).
One thing I’ve noticed, is that this new build is probably better suited to Arena combat rather than battlegrounds. Since the fights in Arenas are longer than the individual skirmishes in the BGs, things like Improved Revive Pet are more important. Or, maybe I just stink and die too much in BGs!
Since I’m not on an Arena team, I’m considering dropping some of the Beast Mastery talents and moving those points into Survival. If I do this, I would probably stable my Scorchshell Pincer in favor of a high-DPS pet with Dash. A Felsworn Daggermaw or Blackwind Sabercat seems like good fit.
Which would you choose?

I’ve had both, and to be honest, they were both nice. I like that the raptor has a more “unique” look to it, the cat looks just like some of the ones you could tame at low levels. Plus everyone who wants a cat but doesn’t want to take the time to level a cat has one (tbh this is why I had one). If you don’t want to level the raptor, I believe there are some level 70′s in one of the EcoDomes in Netherstorm.. they’re orange instead of green, but it’ll save you some time if you don’t want to bother leveling the green one up.
Good luck to you!

@Asara In the end, I decided you were absolutely right about the cat. I think that cat looks really slick, but it’s also very common at 70.
So, last night I went out and tamed a Felsworn Daggermaw. Leveling him has been slow going (especially since I’m no longer BM specced), but I think it will be worth it for the sexiness factor.

Good choice
Blizz really did raptors a favor when they gave them Dash. I hope there are similar presents waiting for some of the other pet classes, so they’ll get some taming love too!

@Asara – I couldn’t agree more. I think it would be great if Blizzard would make a concerted effort to give special abilities to each pet class.
On that note, Tendon Rip for Raptors!

I’ve been thinking about picking up a raptor currently I have a gorilla, wind serpent, ad I recently acquired a tiger. I haven’t had a tiger since I picked up a silvermane gorilla while questing in the stranglethorn vale. That gorilla has been updated to an ungoro thunderer. I wish my gorilla had dash, lol.

Once you’ve had Dash or Charge, trying to use a pet without it is just frustrating.

Go with the Cat. She will eat fish and meat. The Raptor is meat only.

@Bikutanda
That’s a reasonable distinction. I personally never had a problem finding plenty of meat, but keeping your pet happy is really important.

The cat looks awesome. Hard to resist that.
