So, in response to that, I tamed a (now) level 68 Felsworn Daggermaw. I’m still working on leveling him up and increasing his loyalty, but I already feel like we’re doing more damage as a team.

Finally, I’ve decided to keep my 11/41/9 for now. I had previously considered switching some of those Beast Mastery talents over to Survival. Although I feel like this spec is better suited to the arena, I’m still getting used to it and don’t want to give up on it so quickly.

One thing I’ve noticed, is that this new build is probably better suited to Arena combat rather than battlegrounds. Since the fights in Arenas are longer than the individual skirmishes in the BGs, things like Improved Revive Pet are more important. Or, maybe I just stink and die too much in BGs!

Since I’m not on an Arena team, I’m considering dropping some of the Beast Mastery talents and moving those points into Survival. If I do this, I would probably stable my Scorchshell Pincer in favor of a high-DPS pet with Dash. A Felsworn Daggermaw or Blackwind Sabercat seems like good fit.

Last night I made the executive decision to only PVP with Hynjoku, and use my original hunter for farming. I spent 1 gold at the trainer to unlearn all my talents and redistributed my points into a 11/41/9 Marksmanship build.

I’ve been playing a 41/20/0 Beast Mastery build for well over a year, and I feel like my unfamiliarity with this new build was really evident. I’m determined to not let these early struggles get me down and focus on learning the nuances of my new shots and deadlier stings.

In the interest of my own sanity, I’ve picked up an old warrior alt named Fengdu (that’s his ugly mug to the left). My plan is to treat Fengdu quite differently than Hynjoku. If you’ve followed this blog for a while, you probably know that the point of Hynjoku was to experience as much content as possible. After leveling 2 other toons to 70, I felt like I had skipped a lot of the game for the sake of leveling quickly.

That’s not the case with Fengdu, though. My plan is to get this guy to 70 as quickly as possible and to focus on PVP entirely. If I never tank an instance, I don’t care. If I don’t max out all the reputations, no big deal.

Fengdu is all about the PVP. Let’s see how it goes.

Unfortunately, I’ve fallen into a bit of a rut with this. Every night I usually do the daily PVP quest, daily Cooking quest, and the Skyguard dailies.

This leads to an interesting tangent: Why do the Sha’tari Skyguard daily quests?

The most obvious reason is to gain access to the [Skyguard Silver Cross], which would be tons of fun in PVP. Other than that, though, I’m not too interested in the other rewards. I’m not a big fan of the flying nether rays and probably wouldn’t ride one, given the opportunity.

For me, the Skyguard dailies are a nice source of income. I especially like camping one of the Skyguard Prisoner spawn points, and keeping the area clear until he shows up. Just doing the Skettis-based Skyguard daily quests can easily result in 50+ gold.

Anyway, the original point of this post wasn’t to talk about the Sha’tari Skyguard, but I guess I’ll have to get back to my rut discussion next time.

On a personal note, I’d like to relate how glad I am that they fixed Felspine the Greater. After hunting him down last night, I discovered he was engage bugged. Apparently this was a known issue that should now be fixed.

Woot!

General

• Some players may notice improved data load times when newly entering the world and after zoning into new areas.
• Character/NPC load times have been decreased, and now should appear faster. You?re not hearing voices, there really are people in Shattrath!

Bug Fixes

• Felspine the Greater in Shadowmoon Valley will no longer evade when engaged.
• Guttripper in Nagrand will no longer evade when engaged.
• Players will now be correctly credited with their arena points if they purchase an arena item during weekly arena calculations.
• Using a castsequence macro on a target moving out of range will no longer cause it to stop working.

Hunters

• Arcane Shot: Ranks 1-5 will once again deal bonus damage based on attack power.
• Aspect of the Viper effect increased.
• Freezing Trap is no longer limited to one target at a time.
• Pet leveling speed has been increased.

I wouldn’t have realized how important the pet leveling speed increase was if I had not been leveling a new hunter. With the additional XP from quests since the 2.3.0 patch, my ghost stalker just keeps falling further and further behind.

Today, I dropped 1200 gold at the Auction House.

1200 gold.

I’ve been spending a lot of time PVPing lately and had hoped to upgrade a lot of gear with honor and marks. It dawned on my that the [Gladiator's Heavy Crossbow] is REALLY pricey! In fact, I could use the honor necessary for that item to purchase two or three other items.

So, this morning, I dropped 1200 gold on a [Gyro-Balanced Khorium Destroyer], [Glinting Noble Topaz], and [Khorium Scope].

The very first thing I can tell you is that this gun looks absolutely wicked. I haven’t done the math on the damage difference yet due to my Gun skill being so low (as evidenced in the screenshot), but I’ll report that shortly. I chose this over the [Don Santos' Famous Hunting Rifle], because of the huge STA boost and yellow gem socket. Since I’m PVPing so much, the STA boost is a welcome addition.
