Needless to say, I spent a couple of hours killing yetis in Hillsbrad Foothills in order to find Helcular's Rod for Novice Thaivand (Helcular's Revenge quest). As if that wasn't bad enough, after returning the rod to him, Thaivand gave me a pat on the back, handed the rod back to me, and sent me out to do more deeds. Well, thank you very little!

Someone really needs to talk to this fellow about his people skills. I've quested enough to know that after killing a few hundred yetis, I should expect a little more compensation than a pat on the back. Let's face it, the respect of Novice Thaivand won't pay the bills.

I should have been tipped off right away just by the looks of this guy. He hangs out in a graveyard all day in a nasty, tattered robe. I should have known that he wasn't going to pay much for this errand. Not to mention, he obviously sent a few others on the same task, because I bumped into a rogue and warlock looking for the same thing. Geez!

Unfortunately, it was late after all this yeti carnage, so I had to rest. With my luck, after sticking this rod in a few fires, Novice Thaivand will want me to raise the dead with it!

I've been running all over Azeroth slaying monsters and righting wrongs, and I can tell you that my legs are tired! But, Wizzlecrank has a brilliant idea. Instead of running everywhere, he's stealing a Shredder from the Venture Company. To be honest, this idea ended badly (the thing blew up with him in it), but the concept is great.

I can tell you without hesitation that I would re-roll a goblin if I could get a Shredder mount at level 40. How cool would that be?

Actually, a Shredder mount would be a popular in-game reward (like Swift Razzashi Raptor or Swift Zulian Tiger). What do you think?

This is one of the cooler effects in World of Warcraft. If you have the "Death Effect" turned on, this is what you get. Sort of a spirit world effect where everything is various shades of gray. I can't remember if this option is on by default, but I doubt it since the description says that turning it on may impact performance. I know that when I'm all ghostified, I'm seriously concerned about my performance.

To enable (or disable) the effect, check the box labeled "Death Effect" in the Video Options under Shaders ( Video Options → Shaders → Death Effect ).

I'm not sure if there is some sort of Horde legislation about hazing, but someone needs to talk to Thrall about Kadrak and his quest, The Warsong Reports.

If you aren't familiar with The Warsong Reports, let me give a short rundown. This quest starts at the extreme north end of The Barrens at The Mor'shan Ramparts. Kadrak asks that you take reports to his three scouts in Ashenvale, receive their updates, and deliver them back to him. Easy enough, what's wrong with that?

Why is this hazing? The University of Washington says that hazing is any act by a member of a group against another member of the same group that can "cause bodily harm or danger, offensive punishment, or disturbing pain, compromise the person's dignity; cause embarrassment or shame in public; cause the person to be the object of malicious amusement or ridicule; cause psychological harm or substantial emotional strain". Since Kadrak only offers this quest to Horde the requirement for an intra-group relationship is satisfied. How does this quest satisfy the other aspects of the definition?

Ashenvale is a zone for levels 20 - 30. Since this quest is available at level 17, that means every thing in the zone is higher level than you. Chances of bodily harm: High.

PVP Only: "Welcome to Ashenvale, here's your PVP flag." Chance of dying and watching some gnome do a butt-slap dance on your head: 100%.

"Run, Forrest, run!" Holy moly, I'm not even kidding here. This quest literally requires you to run the equivalent of the length of the zone twice. Enjoy your run, freshman.

"Enjoying your run? Oh, watch out for that big Alliance city." That's right, this quest sends you right through the heart of Astranaar (if you stay on the road). If this is your first trip to Ashenvale, there isn't a lot of warning that you are about to enter a city. Just cross the bridge and bam! Those elves are pretty but mean.

This is unacceptable. I think I'll write a letter.
